For this project, we chose a auteur filmmaker to research and analyze, with the goal of making a film in their style. I chose Edgar Wright, one of my favourite directors, known for his stylish editing and sense of humor. I'm a big fan of his work and wanted to challenge myself to make something in his style.
Before starting pre-production, I researched 3 different formats of video made by my chosen auteur, Edgar Wright. After a deep dive into his TV show, Spaced, his cult favourite film, Hot Fuzz, and his lesser known advert for Nike, Choose Go, I summarized the key components that make up an Edgar Wright film.
Next up, I analyzed different platforms for videos from various perspectives to find the most suitable one for my final film.
I then did pre-production for my film to prepare for shooting. This included creating a shot list, a storyboard, a risk assessment and more. In addition to this, I also broke down some key ideas in my film/script in order to make sure I stayed on track while preparing for filming and truly made a Wright-esque film.
